Story Behind the Painting
‘Summer’ was painted in Malaga in early 2024. She is taken from a series of strong, confident women, reflecting the image of women as confident and resilient, women who are indispensable to the economic survival of their families and communities.
Over the past two decades Terry has been spending more and more time in Spain and now visits as often as he can. He finds that the anonymity of being away from Belfast helps him deal with his anxiety and depression and the pressure, perceived or otherwise, that he associates with his hometown. He often takes a notebook or sketch pad with him when he visits the coffee shops and likes to make notes and quick sketches of the people around him.
As Terry has developed as an artist he has realised that his basic shyness has increased the more he becomes recognized. Being away helps him to become the voyeur he wants to be and enables him to sit and observe people without interruption.
Summer reflects this relaxed and uncomplicated mood. The model herself is calm and unstressed. Her gaze is direct and honest, and although there are faint tear stains they are indistinct and not immediately obvious. The strong lines and bright colours are further evidence that this is Terry at his most confident. The lack of birds also sends a message; Terry is projecting who he is and can be when he can escape his past and immerse himself in a different world.

Editions are produced from a limited number. Once limited editions are sold out, they will never be reproduced and will only be available as hand-embellished prints and canvases.

Description
Our prints are high-quality giclée prints produced on either heavyweight museum-quality rough watercolour paper or artists’ canvas. Every print is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity, also signed by him.

Framing options can be selected online, and once your artwork is prepared for collection at our gallery, you will be notified by phone in accordance with your preference.
Hand Embellishment
Hand-embellished orders are taken by the artist back to his studio where he personalises each one using either paint, pencil, or pen. He adds colour or detail that is unique to your piece making them an original, one-off piece. These pieces are numbered 1/1 and come with a certificate of authenticity.
Shipping & Collections
In-store Collection is available for all orders. Select 'Pick-Up' at checkout and choose your local gallery. Framed prints are available for collection in 2 - 3 weeks.
Local Van Delivery Service is available on the island of Ireland. Please choose "Ship" at checkout and then "Local Delivery". Once your order has been processed, we’ll be in touch to arrange a delivery date that suits you.
Worldwide Shipping is available for rolled artwork. Rolled prints are shipped via First Class recorded delivery in secure postal tubes and require a signature upon receipt. You will receive a text/email confirming your order has been fulfilled and posted. These notifications include tracking information (some countries excluded).
